GERMAN ONE - DEUTSCH EINS


ALL INFORMATION, MATERIALS, /LINKS etc.  WILL BE POSTED ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM   

We don’t have a textbook, and no benchmarks :)


READING:

We will be reading short stories that tie into the various themes (there is no textbook)


ONLINE PLATFORMS:

Google classroom

flipgrid, quizlet, quizizz, 

and other authentic German websites (also songs)


WRITING, SPEAKING & LISTENING:

  • dictations, sentences, questions/answers
  • conversation rows, groups (3-4)
  • Harry Potter und der Stein des Weisen (Video clips)
  • songs




VOCABULARY, TOPICS/THEMES: 

  • school 
  • my family and friends, myself 
  • favorite activities 
  • my house 
  • clothing 
  • food 
  • sport/body
  • holidays, celebrations
  • colors & numbers
  • animals
  • the weather

GRAMMATICAL STRUCTURES INTRODUCED:

 

Gender of nouns, articles, basic pronouns, plural forms, basic word order, possessives, negation,  basic present tense verbs (plus stem changing verbs), and some modal verbs. Very basic concept of case (accusative/direct object), for articles only, and express likes.

ASSIGNMENTS, ASSESSMENTS AND GRADING:

STRAIGHT POINT VALUES!


Each assignment (oral, written, quiz, and participation) will be given a similar point value (average 10 to  20 points each). The semester final will be double the value of the average quiz.

There will be regular in class PRACTICE assignments for each chapter/theme, and one quiz per chapter.  

LATE WORK EXCEPTED UPON REQUEST, AND DEPENDING ON CIRCUMSTANCE. 

TWO low grade assignments/quizzes PER SEMESTER can be retaken (for a highest grade of C-).

Grading Scale:  A: 100 - 87 %   B: 86.9 - 74 %     C: 73.9 - 61 %     D: 60.9  - 51 %     F: 50.9 %
