You may work with a partner. Make sure you fill out the Google Form with you and your partner's names and each of you need to submit the assignment here once you complete as well. This is essentially a big study guide so don't just guess the code, really look at the questions. The Google Form is embedded on the Google Site.

We will do the character notes part of this one day but you will not turn it in till the day you asynchronously finish the other slides. Follow the directions on each slide to take notes and drag and manipulate parts in order.

To get the full 10 points for the notes/TOD section of this assignment, you must have 3 bullet points for the brainstorming section and 3 bullet points in the notes section for each statement. You must also have the TOD part completed a statement next to each asterisk. This is due before you leave class unless you get extra time, and then it's due by 3pm on that day.

This reflection is due by the end of the day but you should be able to get it done in the first 10 minutes of class. Open your essay in turnitin.com. Click on each bubble comment, read each visible comment on the essay and read the summary paragraph to the right of your strengths and weaknesses and grade. Use that info to fill out the Google Form. Write your two goals somewhere so you can look at them before you start the next essay. Once you submit the form, click submit on this assignment in Classroom too. If you are conferencing with us you must do so by this Friday. You must resubmit the essay in Google Classroom only (not tii.com) by Friday January 15th. That is also when any late work from Oct. 15th or after is due for semester grades.

I am attaching a template for you to type your essay on. Don't forget you must also submit your essay to turnitin.com on time or it will be marked down a grade. Students that get extra time have until Sunday December 20th to get it submitted in both places. You will be showing us chunks at a time for rough draft points that we'll be recording. Fahrenheit 451 Formative Writing Assessment
Directions: As we have been reading the first two parts of the novel, we have been tracing symbols and motifs that have recurred throughout. The struggle for freedom is a theme that runs throughout Fahrenheit 451. In a FWA, you will synthesize these two aspects of the novel. Use the guide below as a checklist to ensure you meet the requirements. You may use your books and your graphic organizer for this assignment.

Topic Sentence: Identify the symbol or motif you are choosing to trace throughout the novel and explain how it is connected to the struggle for freedom.

You are working in groups on tracing one symbol or motif you are assigned throughout the book so far. You only have till the end of class to look in your notebook and add things to the doc. I will lock them after that. For each quote (pg.) you list, you must explain next to it how it connects to the struggle for freedom. Each groups is expected to have a MINIMUM of 2 quotes/explanations. Any quote without an explanation will not be counted for points. We will not be sharing out in class. Then, your homework after class today is to use all the info from everyone's docs to copy paste two page numbers for each symbol/motif (you don't need to type the actual quote) and type a summary of the group's explanation of how it connects to the struggle for freedom, feel free to add your own take on it as well. Submit this assignment before 745 am tomorrow and then you will use this info to write a formative writing assessment in class next block after the Part 2 quiz. Remember that your notebook is due before midnight tonight unless you asked for extra time (due Wed before 745 am).

If you want to annotate by hand in class today, print this out and then you can attach photos of your annotations. Otherwise, you will annotate via Google Docs.

You will work in groups of 3 to create a multimedia presentation. Directions are attached. Only one group member will attach your slideshow to this assignment and submit. It also MUST be submitted on turnitin.com. Monday and Tuesday we will present in class so you should have notecards with your slide info printed or written out. It is typical to have only the key things on the slides and a lengthier explanation on your notecard. If you do this, you will need to upload a Google Doc instead of your slideshow that has both the info that's on the slideshow and the explanation that you say verbally.

Your homework is to read the class syllabus today. It's listed under materials. We will not have time to go through all of it in class, I will simply highlight a few things and we will set up our other accounts related to class. You are responsible for knowing all aspects of the syllabus and sharing with your parents, then filling out this survey by Monday morning. But please read the syllabus prior to tomorrow. If you’re having trouble creating a Bitmoji, just focus on creating a slide that has things that represent your life. Be ready to present Friday by spending 1-2 minutes explaining your slide and each object and it’s significance. Have 4 objects minimum that you'll explain.
