Final Project, Parts 1-4 due Monday, June 8

Our final websites will be due Monday, June 8, at 11:59pm. I have made a folder for you to submit the supplemental documents (the exercise sets and Rubric 2 for other websites). This is accessible from my post to the class stream earlier today. Please post your PUBLISHED website links in the comments of class stream post mentioned before so others can access and review it.

RETURNING CALCULATORS :) in Google Classroom

RETURNING CALCULATORS :)

There are about 8 of you that need to return calculators. I will be at school by 9am tomorrow am! I am in zooms from noon-4 so I am only available 9am-11:30am. Text me and I will come grab the calc from you through the front bars (by the bus lanes). Remember to return the calc, cover and charging cord. Love you guys!

Due:

PART 3: Teaching/Sharing DUE June 4 in Google Classroom

PART 3: Teaching/Sharing DUE June 4

For PART 3 there are four components:
1. The screencast or Zoom recording (or any other video making/editing software you are comfortable with) of you presenting on your topic. The video clip must be at least 3 minutes long.
2. The problem set/learning activity that you create (or recycle from other resources, i.e. your textbook, Khan Academy, etc) of at least 4 problems. These are for your visitors to answer, so you do not need to work out these problems in detail.
3. An answer key to the problem set/learning activity above for visitors to reference while working on your problems set/learning activity. These do not need a step-by-step breakdown, just a list of correct responses (like you would see in the back of a textbook).
4. Be sure to include the links to online educational resources for visitors--a minimum of 4 across all parts of the website (i.e. the link to your video/article in PART 2 counts toward this minimum).

Lastly here is the Math LaTeX symbol sheet I showed in class for your reference, in case you are interested in adding typed formulas and equations to your website. (P.S. This is a great tool to have for any future math classes you may enroll in during college, especially if you are expecting to start the semester with distant learning). If you have any questions regarding PART 3, or the project in general, feel free to email me. Have a great weekend!

PART 2: Re-Learning in Google Classroom

PART 2: Re-Learning

For PART 2: Re-learning, there are four (4) components that need to be included on your preliminary website: 1) the video or article (or its link); 2) Rubric 1 filled out assessing the video/article you chose; 3) a written response, at least a paragraph, to the video/article you chose (you can use Rubric 1 as a guide for your response); and 4) your exercises of at least 4 problems

Here are some guidelines based on questions from Zoom:
-You must embed all of these components into website for us to view; and you must share your website with us via Google Drive, or email it to us.
-The format of these components is up to you, but they must be included.
-You can start to send your websites to other groups for two reasons: to offer feedback, and to check accessibility.
-Divide the work in a system that works for you.
-You can type out your exercise set on a Google Doc or take a picture of handwritten work and upload to your drive. The exercise set is selected by you from a resource of your choice (such as your textbooks or Khan Academy); and you must show your steps in solving the problems (like you would for a test or homework assignment).
-This is just a first draft! Don't feel pressured to have a finished website by Friday, just include the first 4 components. We'll have time to polish and perfect them over the next week.
The rubric must be completed IN ADDITION to the written response (about a paragraph long) to the video/article of your choice. This is a reflection on what you learned from the video/article and some ways you feel the presenter/author could improve.
-I have included a copy of the reference website "Mr. M's Math Corner." I'm hoping this one will be accessible from your .net account drives. The original one is a public site, so you may be only able to access it when you are signed out of your .net accounts.

Due:

Please see if you name is on the attached document. If so, fill in responses. For those of you that are taking the test on Monday, good luck and please practice this weekend!! Make sure to check out the College Board YouTube channel!!! in Google Classroom

Due:

Final Project Part 1: Preparing for your Tech-Based Project, DUE WEDNESDAY MAY 27 in Google Classroom

Final Project Part 1: Preparing for your Tech-Based Project, DUE WEDNESDAY MAY 27

There are three components to Part 1:
-Review the website Mr. M's Math Corner to find key directions and resources for your web design
-Pick a partner with whom you will be working on the website design (this partner can be from any class period)
-Pick a topic from your class list (there is one for Calc and one for JV Stats). There is only room for two groups per topic, and it is first-come, first-serve on topic choices.

Once you have organized yourself, start meeting over the phone or on Zoom/FT/etc. with your partner and begin conceptualizing your web design process (think of what images, activities, music, visuals, etc. you want to include). That is to say, start thinking of the overall vibe you want your website to have. Be expressive, creative, and individualistic, keeping in mind that these will be available to the public. Above all, show off all the learning you have acquired this semester. You all have been doing AMAZING, especially in these challenging times, so create this final product with pride and mathematical prowess.

Due:

PART 1 & ZOOM Tomorrow (Code: 236-481-822, Password: 4b1U9g. Calculus Meets at 12:00 - 12:45, JV Stats meets at 12:45 - 1:30). in Google Classroom

There are still some students who have not signed up for a group/topic. If this is the case, please put your name in a potential topic slot and in parentheses indicate you still need a partner (i.e. Mr. Munoz (NEEDS PARTNER)); and remember only two groups per topic. Mrs. Ramsey and I will do our best to get you situated into a group.
Also, we will be having a Zoom meeting for any questions you may still have regarding the website project and going over next steps. This includes examining the Google Sites format in a little more detail so you can start developing your site. As such, you might want to familiarize yourself with Google Sites before tomorrow's meeting.

Due:

Email from College Board! Please read! in Google Classroom

Email from College Board! Please read!

Dear Colleague,

Today we reached the midway point of the two-week primary administration. We couldn't be more proud of the hundreds of thousands of students who showed up for the opportunity to claim the college credit they worked for all year, despite widespread school closures.

Students have taken nearly 2.2 million AP® Exams, across 15 courses. After the first week of testing, our data show the vast majority of students successfully completed their exams.

However, some students have encountered challenges submitting their responses, and we've been listening closely to each student, parent, or educator who reports a problem. Beginning Monday, May 18, we're changing processes to address some of these concerns.

To help support your students during testing, please share the information below with them.
Submitting Exam Responses
We share the deep disappointment of students who were unable to submit responses.

Beginning Monday, May 18, and continuing through the makeup window, there will be a backup email submission process for browser-based exams.

This option will only be available for students who were not able to submit in the standard process—and they must then email their responses immediately following their exam.

These students will see instructions about how to email their response on the page that says, "We Did Not Receive Your Response." The email address that appears on this page will be unique to each student.

Any student testing between May 18–22 who can't successfully upload their response through the exam platform or send it to us by email, will need to request a makeup exam.

To protect the security and validity of exams, we're unable to accept submissions from students who tested May 11–15. However, these students can feel confident that the email option will be in place for them during the makeup exams.

Email submissions will not be available for the World Language exams.
Setting Up Your Students for Success
Given the wide variety of devices, browsers, and connectivity solutions students have access to, we're unable to prevent every possible local error from occurring during the exam. In advance of the administration, we created a testing guide, Exam demo, and test day checklist to help students avoid potential issues. It's important that students review this information and know to:

Locate their e-ticket, which is emailed two days before each exam

Use a recommended browser, update it to the latest version, and disable plugins

Keep an eye on the time and begin their submission at the 5-minute mark
Additional tips to help your students succeed are available here.

Students taking World Language and Culture exams, which begin on Monday, May 18, must:

Download the free AP World Languages Exam App (WLEA)

Set their device to “Do Not Disturb”

Check to ensure they have enough storage on their device
World Language students should also watch the exam walk-through video, and check our website for more guidance.

Thank you for all you continue to do to support your students during this challenging time.

With gratitude,

Advanced Placement Program
