My name is Ms. Turner, and I am going to be your student’s Math teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. I want to start out by saying how excited I am to go on this journey with you, and your student.  This is my third year as a Mariner & I am so excited to be back! As a class, we are going to extend our knowledge and skills by applying new learning tools to solve Algebraic, Geometric, and Statistical focused problems.  We will also explore real world problems utilizing the skills we are learning in class. My class is going to be full of group/partner work, class discussion, individual discovery, and encouraging students to take academic risks. I also want to create a Safe Space where students can be their true authentic self & feel comfortable to learn & grow as a student/person.

I am a Long Beach State Alumni where I received my B.S in Mathematics, a minor in Theatre, and my Single Subject Math Credential.  Math has always been a passion of mine, and I am delighted to be sharing it with you and your parents.  When I was in high school, math to me was just plugging in numbers and trying to find the right equation to solve the problem.  My math classes taught me how to think analytically and critically not only about math, but about everyday life as well.  These are the skills are I want to share with you throughout the school year.

I will also be sending home a syllabus that will go into more depth about classroom, homework, and grading policies for the school year.
